All Aboard the Potty Train

So, we bought a potty chair .

With Sasha's well-established hatred of messing his diaper, his ability to tell me when he's doing it, the fact that his announcement has begun to preceed the actual act, and the fact he even has a "potty spot" in the house where he goes to hide and do the deed (after making his announcement)-- I think it's time to make his introduction to the concept of a toilet.

Since he's so young (only 18 months), I don't really have any expectations of this being terribly successful.

But the toilet now sits in his "potty spot". Really probably the most horribly un-private place in the house, so I'm not sure why he picked it. Right in the foyer, behind the brass table.

I feel so terribly redneck now with a toilet in my foyer. But there it sits.

We don't want to be too serious with the training pants right now, so when he gets home, we'll change him into some leftover swim diapers from the summer so we can learn about pulling down our pants to sit on the potty. Nothing fancy, just to get the pants down, sit...

And probably flip the potty over to examine the underside whilst he pees on the floor.

I would hope he'd be as easy to toilet train as the Hound, but I know that's a pipe dream. Nothing and No One is that easy.

That potty is so adorable! I'm sure it goes great in your foyer. ;-)

Our beagle hound dog was really difficult to house train. I'm hoping the Pumpkin is easier. Pull ups are a good idea. I'll have to look into those.

*sigh* Sadly, I think the potty is a loooooooooooong way off for me. Mine has less than no interest in potty and could care less where he takes a dump!
