First Birthday

We celebrated Sasha’s first birthday this weekend. It’s not till Thursday, but who celebrated on a Thursday? My parents and Hubby’s Dad and Stepmom came. So did Sister and her Husband.

Sasha was a little off schedule so he missed most of his own little party. But it was nice to eat lunch without having someone constantly grabbing food off my plate or drinking out of my glass and leaving huge chunks of partly chewed food in it.

I made him a peach shortcake with apricot sauce.

I can only reiterate that the kid HATES sugar.

He ate all his peaches. He ate the unsweetened whipped cream (I know…ick). He ate the unsweetened apricot sauce. He took two bites of the cake that had a total of 3 Tbsp of sugar in the whole batch of 12 and then handed it to me.

*sigh*

It was a good recipe too. Very buttery.

Sasha got a lot of presents and I think his favorite right now is his rhythm band. It’s a really nice set and he likes to crash the cymbals, bang the tambourine, etc. That was from my parents. They also got him puppets. We haven’t set up his sandbox yet (that was what we got him) because it’s just too hot for him to play outside and the Duplos are a struggle for him but he’s getting it. Hopefully he eats a minimum of sand. Hubby’s parents got him the “manly” gifts (I only say so because they kept on mentioning the gender-appropriateness of it) of Cars ™ themed items and a ball-popper/xylophone thing that he found quite fun. They also made a huge donation to his college fund (yay!). Sister got him some Junior Composer toy that is obnoxious but he loves to push all the buttons to.

The dogs gave him floor time without obnoxious incessant kissing or herding. They spent the afternoon at the groomers getting beautiful.

Sunday we had just a quiet day. Took a trip down to the new Super Target because he needed more sippies and pjs. Ended up getting a lot more and I LOVE their food selection. Plus found something called Peas of Mind that totally makes a busy day easy to feed him healthy food. BLW does make it easy to find food he’ll eat, but since he can’t always manage what we’re eating, it can take a little extra work. These make life simple again. And he likes them. Yay!

Happy birthday!

It took our youngest a while to develop his sweet tooth. My husband was all kinds of concerned and threatened to consult a professional. I told him it was healthier, just let him alone. Now? The kid live for candy. UGH.

Happy Birthday!

I can't believe how crazy hot it's been lately. Hopefully we'll have some cooler days soon so Sasha can enjoy his new sandbox.
